Christoffel is the progenator of our de Wit family line in South Africa.
Christoffel was born in Lenzen on the River Elbe, Germany and baptised in 1695 in Lenzen, Germany. He arrived in South Africa on the 5 July 1713 and gains citizenship in 1717.
On the 25 September 1717 Christoffel at the age of 23 marries Judith STEVENS who was 19 years old in Paarl.
Judith Stevens was born and baptised 1698 in Druten, Netherlands. She passed away 8 November 1718 at the age of 20 on the farm Kleigadt, district of Stellenbosch. She was the daughter of Joost STEVENS, who was born in Druten in 1670 and Pietertje GERRITSZ born in 1670
Only 1 child was born from this marriage as far is known. Frederik was born in Stellenbosch in 1718 and baptised on 27 June 1718. He was only about a 1½ when his mother passed away.
