Petrus Jacobus was born on 6 January 1842 at Grootrivier in the Ladismith district and baptised on 6 March 1842. He farmed on Grootrivier in the Ladismith district and passed away on 4 July 1906 at the age of 64.

At the age of 22 he married Gertruida Johanna VAN SCHALKWYK who was 16 years old on 25 April 1864. She was born on 30 November 1847 in Ladismith and baptised in January 1848. She passed away at Grootrivier, Ladismith on 19 July 1931 at the age of 83.
