Johannes Adolf (Hannes) was born on 9 February 1929 in Worcester, Cape District. He passed away at the St Luke's Hospice in Kenilworth on the 15 September 1995 at the age of 66.

He married Rita Christine Patricia KENSLEY on 22 January 1955 at the Woodstock Methodist Church in Cape Town at the age of 25. Rita C. P. KENSLEY was born in Cape Town on 30 November 1932 and married at the age of 22.  She was the daughter of Albert James KENSLEY and Gladys Violet Elizabeth ROODT. They were divorced in 1974.
